BBC BASIC is the programming language that was originally developed and implemented by the British Broadcasting Corporation for the innovative Computer Literacy Project in the early 1980s. This contemporary, cross-platform version boasts numerous enhancements compared to its earlier iterations. It features extensions to the language, alongside support for anti-aliased 2D graphics, advanced 3D graphics, and shader programming. Additionally, it includes a 2D physics engine, enriching its multimedia capabilities with stereo music, sound effects, and video integration.
The language also facilitates networking functions and supports accelerometer use. Importantly, it retains a significant degree of compatibility with the BBC Microcomputer, maintaining features such as SOUND, ENVELOPE, and MODE 7.
